Hemis Festival is the special festival for the monastery of Hemis. It is known as the largest monastery of Ladakh. It is celebrated on the tenth day of the month Tibetan lunar calendar. It celebrates the commemoration of the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava is considered the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet.
