Antique Lamps – Lamps Very rare Minton

In 1793, Thomas Minton, now a master potter who had just completed his apprenticeship as an engraver Josiah Spode, opened a small pottery in Staffordshire in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the ceramics industry in English. This little boy was starting to become a large pottery manufacturing company with an international reputation.

Everyone knows the famous "Willow" pattern, but did you know that Thomas Minton is regarded as the first impression recorded by the famous! Minton said to have been inspired by hearing the ancient Chinese legend of the young daughter of rich tangerine fled with his secretary. The son of Thomas Minton, Herbert (1793-1858), succeeded his father as head of the company and was due to its development and its reputation as a leader of porcelain production.

In 1820 he began producing porcelain. This early Minton is considered comparable to French Sèvres, which was a big influence.

The crystal chandeliers in a very pale Celadon molded and applied white porcelain "string." The necks of the lights with a continuous band of full employment cut in the style of traditional networks of China,

are in remarkable condition given the complexity of design.

In a correspondence privately with the UK Wedgwood / Minton Museum, this

pair of devices have been described as "very important".

The form has been described by Minton in 1862, London International Exhibition, where they were described as "a pair of glasses, Celadon glazed garlands of white wires, the neck and holes in the foot. "

The form of vase was recorded in 1863 as "in the Chinese Style."
