Why the Japanese flag on it a sunrise?
I know that the red dot represents the rising sun. And I know that this is the land of the rising sun.But why there is a rising sun in the flag?
Japan is the land of the rising sun, because it is the first to see the sun (the Japanese knew at the time). Therefore, Japan is called 日本 [Ni Honnō] Home of the sun. The first answer is a little true, but a little too focused on China. Japan is on the coast Asia, and not on the coast of China, and the name of Nihon has nothing to do with China. (The name comes from Japan, China, however.) Rik Note: Japan is the land of the rising sun. I see your point, but because the original meaning kanji 本, Nihon is the origin of the sun "and was called" the land of the rising sun for centuries. Literally, no But as you rightly pointed out, nihon no means "Land of the Rising Sun" and I was not implying that is the case. What is the Japanese name god of the sun you mentioned?
