Why do so many characters that define the then Chinese?
It's crazy!男孩子一个一只猫child 一朵 花 flower cat 一位 老师 a master car 一辆 车 一 匹马 why a horse can not use 个 fair for everyone? I understand things like a glass 一杯, but why else? There is confusion and probably difficult to learn. And what makes me fear the other could be coming.
It's just the nature of China. China is based on the context, therefore, in some If we can get a more respectful classifiers. For example, technically speaking, 一个 老师 一位 can be used, but gives the teacher 老师 due respect. There really is some logic behind these classifications (for example, 只 is for small animals), but some, like 朵 匹 and are used almost exclusively in these examples that you have. In some cases, classifiers are also used to clarify meaning. A grape (一粒 葡萄) uses a different classifier like a bunch of grapes (一串 葡萄). Everything is very similar to collective nouns in English: a parliament of owls, a congress of baboons, a herd of cattle, etc..
